I like the vibe of Hamburg. It reminds me of my roots back home in the Pacific Northwest.....layed back feel, nice people, great coffee and trendy little shops. I found the best WiFi so far on tour in a coffee shop and decided to set up my headquarters for the morning. The Germans love their coffee and cigarettes in the morning which made for a nice thick cloud of smoke lingering above my precious cappuccino. This was my second time to Hamburg after our last summer’s show in the famous Reeperbahn area, known for it’s liberal sex trade and seedy nightlife. I preferred the part of town we were in this time around feeling like we were cohabiting with the locals as opposed to tourists. After my morning business, I strolled around town to take in some sights which eventually led me to the Wasch Center for doing some laundry. I love doing laundry on the road....it gives me a sense of independence and accomplishment as if I just moved out of my parents home for the first time...but don’t count on me using a laundromat back home, we all have washing machines in America. As I was neatly folding my clothes, B.F. arrived for his own wash duty. It just so happens that his precore was to take place out on the street in front of the center.
We had a good show although we battled with our monitor mixes (not your fault Miles) and afterwards all of us met up at a pub which, translated in english, is called “Family Corner”.
Day 16 - Hamburg, Germany
2/19/08
Hamburg, Germany - Our show took place at Fabrik, an industrial building which housed an old crane on top of its roof. In the daytime, Fabrik is used like a day care to provide young children and wayward youth a place to hang
and share activities.....at night, it becomes a rock mecca.
